Close contacts return to Giants for Friday workout

Players and staff in close contact with offensive lineman Will Hernandez are permitted to return to the New York Giants on Friday.

Hernandez was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Giants on Thursday and several offensive linemen and coaches were sent home as a precaution.

According to the team, all of the Giants’ close contacts under the COVID protocols who remained home Thursday are back with the team on Friday. No new positive cases were detected, according to multiple reports.

That could signal the Giants are clear to play Monday against Tampa Bay, but more intensive daily testing and advanced protocols will continue.

Quarterback Daniel Jones said the team would be forced to adjust without Hernandez, who is out for the game.

Friday’s practice was moved from Quest Diagnostics Center to MetLife Stadium, the team said, due to “wet grounds.”
