Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett will start Monday’s game against the host Dallas Cowboys, head coach Jonathan Gannon announced Saturday.
Gannon also said quarterback Kyler Murray could “have a role” in the game as he works his way back from a foot injury.
Murray has missed the past two games since injuring the foot during a Week 5 home loss to the Tennessee Titans. He was listed as a limited participant in practice on the injury report on both Thursday and Friday.
The Cardinals (2-5) are coming off a bye and feel urgency to post a victory after losing their last five games by a combined 13 points. Arizona lost both games that Murray missed while Brissett served as the starting quarterback.
Murray, 28, has completed 68.3% of his passes for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions in five starts this season. The two-time Pro Bowl selection has rushed for a team-high 173 yards and one score.
Brissett, 32, threw two touchdown passes in each of his two starts. He passed for 320 yards and was intercepted once in a 31-27 loss to the host Indianapolis Colts in Week 6 and had 279 yards in a 27-23 home setback to the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.
