The St. Louis Cardinals on Monday placed starting pitcher Michael Wacha on the 10-day injured list with patellar tendinitis in his left knee, retroactive to April 19.
Wacha is 1-0 with a 4.64 ERA through four starts this season, including a 6-3 win against the Milwaukee Brewers in his most recent start last Wednesday.
The 27-year-old right-hander leads the Cardinals with 24 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings pitched.
The team recalled infielder/outfielder Drew Robinson from Triple-A Memphis to fill the roster spot.
Robinson was on the Cardinals’ Opening Day roster and appeared in four games, going hitless in six at-bats with three strikeouts.
Robinson, who turned 27 on Saturday, was hitting .233 with four RBIs in 12 games at Memphis.
