Boston College tight end Hunter Long declared for the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday.
Long announced his decision via social media with a thank you to coaches and family. The move comes as the Eagles (6-5, 5-5 ACC) voted to skip any potential bowl games after a trying season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“To my brothers at BC, I would not have wanted to play next to anyone else,” Long’s statement read in part. “The brotherhood we formed will last forever and I can’t wait to watch you all achieve greatness. With that being said, I am officially entering my name for the 2021 NFL Draft. The journey is just beginning.”
Long caught 57 passes for 685 yards with five touchdowns in 11 games as a junior in 2020. In three seasons, he posted 89 receptions for 1,297 yards and nine scores.
