The Toronto Blue Jays placed left-hander Clayton Richard on the 10-day injured list because of a strained lat muscle.
In a corresponding move, Toronto activated right-hander Edwin Jackson from the 10-day IL.
Richard left Saturday’s start against the New York Yankees after only two innings because of the injury. He is 1-5 with a 5.96 ERA in 10 starts this season.
Jackson, 35, is 1-5 with a 12.43 ERA in seven games (five starts) with Toronto. He allowed 35 earned runs in 25 1/3 innings before a lower-back strain sent him to the IL.
