Bills-Cowboys nets CBS highest Thanksgiving rating in 27 years

The Thanksgiving Day game between the Buffalo Bills and host Dallas Cowboys produced the highest ratings for CBS on the holiday in 27 years, it was reported Friday.

Ryan Glasspiegel of TheBigLead.com reported the game was the most-watched NFL regular-season game on any network in three years. It drew an average audience of 32.538 million viewers.

The game also was the most-watched TV program of any kind since Super Bowl LIII in February, which was on CBS and averaged 100.7 million viewers (including streaming).

The Bills defeated the host Cowboys 26-15.

Last year’s Thanksgiving Day game between Dallas and the Washington Redskins had an average of 30.5 million viewers.

The Cowboys earned the label “America’s Team” with winning teams and memorable players during the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Since 1966, Dallas traditionally has played at home on Thanksgiving Day.
