Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades has been rewarded with a new 10-year contract extension that runs through July 31, 2029, the university announced Wednesday.
The contract replaces Rhoades’ deal that was set to expire in 2022. It also contains two mutual one-year extensions.
The deal comes just three days after Baylor football coach Matt Rhule received an extension through the 2027 season.
Rhoades became Baylor’s athletic director in the summer of 2016 in the wake of the scandal over the school’s handling of sexual assault claims. Football coach Art Briles was fired in the aftermath.
I appreciate the confidence reflected in me from the Board of Regents and Dr. (Linda) Livingstone,” Rhoades said in a statement, referring to the university president. “Great things are happening at Baylor, and we have an incredibly bright future ahead.”
Financial terms weren’t revealed.
