The Oakland Athletics reinstated first baseman Matt Olson from the injured list Tuesday after he missed 34 games with a broken hand.
The 25-year-old slugger had surgery after getting struck by a foul tip during Oakland’s second game of the season, a 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners on March 21 in Tokyo, Japan.
Olson was expected to be in the lineup when the A’s open an interleague series at home Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds.
Olson batted .247 with 29 home runs and 84 RBIs and played all 162 games in his first full season with the A’s in 2018. He also won a Gold Glove award at first base.
In a corresponding move, Oakland optioned outfielder Skye Bolt to Triple-A Las Vegas.
