Alabama football coach Nick Saban was cleared to travel and coach the Crimson Tide in their marquee matchup vs. LSU on Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
Saban missed the Crimson Tide’s 42-13 thrashing of Auburn last week in the Iron Bowl after testing positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 24.
Based on Southeastern Conference protocols, Saban needed to quarantine for a minimum of 10 days. Friday becomes the first day he would be eligible to return to the team.
Saban credited an intravenous plasma treatment for helping him with a speedy recovery.
“The plasma treatment, whatever it’s called … it really worked wonders,” he said. “I woke up the next day and I really only had slight symptoms of a head cold, maybe a little cough, so I felt like I had a cold. But that’s about it.
“I didn’t feel bad. I didn’t have a fever but whatever was in this plasma deal, it knocked it all out in one day. So from (last) Thursday on, I felt great and 100 percent and I would certainly recommend that treatment to anyone who can get it.”
Top-ranked Alabama (8-0, 8-0 SEC) is heavily favored on the road against LSU (3-4, 3-4) on Saturday.
