Dual-threat quarterback Bryce Young flipped his commitment from Southern California to Alabama on Sunday after a weekend visit to the Tuscaloosa campus.
Young, from football powerhouse Mater Dei in Santa Ana, Calif., is rated as a 5-star prospect and the fourth-best recruit in the country, according to 247Sports. He had been committed to the Trojans since July 2018.
“It was a really hard decision,” Young told 247Sports.
“For me, I just felt like this was the best thing for me. It definitely wasn’t an overnight decision. Me and my family have been praying about this for a long time and I really feel strongly that Alabama is where God wants me and I’m excited about all the opportunities I’ll have there.”
Alabama has the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class so far, trailing Clemson, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
