49ers DT Taylor tears ACL in practice

San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Jullian Taylor is done for the season after suffering a serious knee injury during Thursday’s practice.

Exams detected a torn anterior cruciate ligament and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan announced the loss of Taylor on Friday.

“It was just two people, him and an O-lineman pushing on each other and came to a stop and (the knee) just gave out,” Shanahan told reporters. “It was a real unfortunate one.”

Taylor was just rounding back into shape from an elbow injury. The second-year pro last played on Dec. 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.

When Taylor gets placed on injured reserve, he will become the fourth defensive lineman on the list. The others are Ronald Blair III (ACL), D.J. Jones (ankle) and Damontre Moore (forearm).

The 49ers plan to promote defensive tackle Kevin Givens prior to Sunday’s NFC West showdown with the Seattle Seahawks.

In addition, defensive end Dee Ford (quadriceps, hamstring) will miss the game against Seattle. Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) is doubtful and right guard Mike Person (knee) is questionable.
