2016: It took Rendon a while to shed the rust from an injury plagued 2015 as he managed just one RBI in April. But after being shifted from the two hole to the five spot in May, Rendon took off, batting .287-18-80 over the final 124 games. He piled up 43 RBIs over the final 45 games. Never mind that he laid an egg in Washington’s NLDS loss to the Dodgers.
Forecast: The various projection systems are high on Rendon for 2017; it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him hit .285 with 20-plus homers and 100 RBIs. That makes him comparable to, and perhaps a tad more desirable than Kyle Seager, Adrian Beltre and the other second-tier third basemen.
