The New York Yankees and closer Mariano Rivera are close to a contract for the 2013 season, according to ESPN.com.
The sides have agreed on the parameters of a one-year deal that will likely pay Rivera a guaranteed $11 million to 12 million and include incentives that could make the total worth $15 million, the ESPN.com report said.
Rivera, 43, pitched in nine games last season before tearing his ACL in May. The right-hander is the all-time saves leader with 608 saves.
