The New York Yankees recalled right-hander Bryan Mitchell and left-hander James Pazos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Tuesday’s game versus the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.
Manager Joe Girardi told reporters that Mitchell could replace the injured Chad Green (elbow) and start Wednesday’s contest versus the Blue Jays.
Mitchell, who has been working his way back from a fractured toe, recorded an 0-3 career mark with a 5.31 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 23 games over the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Yankees. The 25-year-old has posted an 0-1 record with a 4.29 ERA while playing for four different teams in the minors this season.
Pazos owns a 2-2 mark with a 2.63 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 27 1/3 innings in Triple-A this season. The 25-year-old scattered three hits and did not allow an earned run in five innings with the Yankees in 2015.
