Precautionary X-rays taken catcher Brian McCann’s right hand on Sunday night were negative, the team announced.

McCann was injured Sunday night against the Boston Red Sox when he took a pitch off his right index finger.

However, an MRI on backup catcher Francisco Cervelli revealed a Grade 2 right hamstring strain. He was also injured during Sunday’s game. The club will place him on the 15-day disabled list before Tuesday’ game against the Chicago Cubs. The move will be retroactive to Monday, meaning he will be eligible to come off the DL on April 29.

The Yankees also optioned right-hander Shane Greene to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
