Wisconsin running back Montee Ball scored three touchdowns at Purdue on Saturday to pass former Badger Ron Dayne’s Big Ten record for career touchdowns.
Ball, a senior, scored his 72nd TD in the fourth quarter of Wisconsin’s 38-14 win over the Boilermakers. Dayne scored 71 times from 1996 to 1999.
Ball had a huge day against Purdue, running for 247 yards on 29 carries. He scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter, a 67-yard burst in the third and another 3-yard run in the fourth.
Ball has 66 touchdowns rushing and six receiving in his career. He is six scores short of the NCAA record, held by former Miami (Ohio) running back Travis Prentice.
