White Sox place P Jones on DL

Chicago White Sox reliever Nate Jones, who has yet to get a batter out this season, was placed on the disabled list on Friday with a strained hip.

Jones suffered the injury early in spring training, but began the season on the active roster. He was penciled in as the team’s setup man after losing out to Matt Lindstrom in a competition for the closer role.

Jones aggravated the the injury on Thursday, when he walked both batters he faced.

Jones has an infinite earned run average at the moment. He has allowed four runs without recording an out in two appearances. He faced five batters, giving up two hits and three walks.
