With Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt Continues Winning Season
Vanderbilt is in the midst of a historically outstanding season, already with a win over nationally ranked Missouri, a 24-point victory at then-ranked South Carolina, and victories over two traditional SEC power programs, LSU and Auburn. Its 8-2 record keeps it in College Football Playoff contention.
The primary reason for the 2025 campaign has been quarterback Diego Pavia. He proved his value to the Commodores again on Saturday night in an overtime win over the Auburn Tigers.
In an exciting back-and-forth game, the two teams combined for over 1,100 total yards. Pavia produced 489 of those. He completed 25 passes for 377 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He ran for 112 yards and another score. His four-yard touchdown pass to tight end Cole Spence produced the margin of victory, 45-38, in the overtime possession.
For his performance, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia has been recognized as the Academy Sports + Outdoors Award, Player of the Week.
