Free safety Eric Weddle on Monday agreed to a four-year, $29 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens that will pay him $9 million in 2016 with $13 million virtually guaranteed.

Weddle had started every game except three in the past eight seasons and had been an All-Pro first or second team member from 2010 through 2014.

“I couldn’t be more excited and pumped to be a part of a championship organization who wanted me from Day One,” Weddle told the San Diego Union Tribune via text.

In addition to the Ravens, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Carolina and Dallas reportedly were interested in signing Weddle.

Weddle made headlines last season when he was fined by the team for “conduct detrimental to the team” when he did not go to the locker room at halftime of the season finale; instead he stayed on the field to watch his daughter dance.
