The Golden State Warriors waived veteran guard Ben Gordon on Wednesday as the team reduced its roster to 18 players.
Gordon played in two preseason games and averaged 1.0 points and 1.0 assists. He signed with the Warriors on Sept. 28.
The 32-year-old Gordon was attempting to make the team as a backup shooting guard. He was released by the Orlando Magic in June after averaging 6.2 points and 1.1 rebounds last season.
The 11-year veteran has career averages of 14.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 744 games with the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte and Orlando.
“He’s a proven scorer, a proven shooter,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before the team signed him to a contarct last month. “He’s at an age where he should still be able to play. Physically, he looks good.
“So we’ll give him a chance. No guarantees of anything. But we do have, potentially, one roster opening. So we’ll give him a look.”
