Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is questionable for Friday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
Curry sprained his left ankle during Game 2 of their series on Tuesday and did not practice Thursday.
The injury is not related to his surgically-repaired right ankle.
If he does not play?
“It would kill me,” Curry told reporter Thursday.
The series shifts to Oakland and is tied 1-1. Curry had 19 points and nine assists in Game 1 and then sustained the injury during the third quarter of Game 2. Despite that, he finished with 30 points and 13 assists in the Warriors’ 14-point victory to tie the series.
“I told our trainer Chad (Bergman) he could be the MVP of this series,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said.
Curry said his ankle swelled up after the win and that he would not have played if their next game was on Thursday. But he has had two full days to rest the ankle. He is receiving treatment for it and considering a pain-numbing injection, which he did not do with his right ankle that has been operated on twice. But this is his first season in the NBA playoffs.
