The Minnesota Vikings placed linebacker Audie Cole on injured reserve and signed linebacker Jason Trusnik to the active roster on Tuesday.

Cole, a seventh-round draft pick by the Vikings in 2012, sustained a fractured ankle during the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s 21-18 overtime victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. He started the game in place of injured middle linebacker Eric Kendricks.

In seven games this season, Cole had three tackles. His four-year totals with the Vikings include 74 tackles, one sack and two passes defensed.

Trusnik is a nine-year veteran who was released by the Carolina Panthers in September. In 109 career games, including 24 starts, with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins, Trusnik has 146 tackles, four fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards was Trusnik’s position coach when both were with the Dolphins during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
