Jerome Simpson agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Minnesota Vikings in 2013.

ESPN.com first reported the contract with Simpson, who joined the Vikings as a free agent prior to last season on a one-year, $2 million deal.

Simpson served a three-game suspension and battled minor injuries most of the season. He caught 26 passes and started 10 games, but he’s not expected to be used as a starter in 2013.

The Vikings have a spindly depth chart at the position after agreeing to trade No. 1 wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks.
