His career spanned 16 years and he made more than $165 million. On Tuesday, Elton Brand called it quits.

The former Duke star was the first pick in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, where he also was named rookie of the year.

He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers before the start of his second season where he developed into a reliable and powerful presence around the basket.

Brand, 36, averaged more than 20 points per game in six of his first eight years and was two-time All-Star.

He also played for the 76ers, Mavericks and Hawks.
