Timberwolves, Prince agree on deal

Longtime NBA forward Tayshaun Price has reached agreement on a one-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, reuniting the veteran with his former coach, according to a report Thursday.

Prince will receive the veteran’s minimum contract, Yahoo Sports reported, to play for Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders.

Saunders and Prince were together with the Detroit Pistons from 2005 to 2008. Prince will be starting his 14th season in the NBA this fall.

Prince spent last season with the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies and Pistons, playing in 58 games and averaging 7.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists. His career averages are 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 940 NBA games.

The 35-year-old Prince is the third veteran to join the Timberwolves in the past few months, joining Kevin Garnett and Andre Miller.

The addition of Prince boosts the Timberwolves’ roster to 17 players, two above the regular-season limit.
