Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is day-to-day with a back injury.
Tests revealed no structural damage and Clowney will benefit from extra rest with the 3-5 Texans entering their bye week in a first-place tie with the Indianapolis Colts for the AFC South lead.
Clowney missed most of his rookie season in 2014 with a knee injury that required microfracture surgery.
Clowney hurt his lower back before halftime Sunday and did not return to Houston’s Week 8 victory. While Clowney was with trainers, backup linebacker Whitney Mercilus notched three sacks.
