Free-agent tight end Fred Davis shopped around for potential suitors this month, but in the end he decided to remain with the Washington Redskins.

Davis, 27, agreed to sign a one-year contract with the Redskins, according to multiple reports Friday. Terms of the deal weren’t available.

In 2012, Davis also worked under a one-year contract with a base salary of $5.4 million. A Achilles’ tendon injury cut his season short. He played in seven games and had 24 receptions for 325 yards and no touchdowns.

The injury likely negatively affected his market value. Davis reportedly visited the Buffalo Bills and was scheduled to meet with the New York Jets before canceling.

Earlier this month, the Redskins re-signed restricted free-agent tight end Logan Paulsen to three-year deal. He’s expected to compete with Davis for a starting job in 2013.

Davis’ most productive season came in 2011 when he had 59 receptions for 796 yards and three touchdowns.
