Super Bowl TV rating slightly down

Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos in Meadowlands, N.J., generated a 47.6 overnight rating, slightly down from last year’s game, according to Sports Business Journal.

The ratings for Fox’s coverage of Seattle’s 43-8 blowout fell just shy of last year’s Baltimore Ravens-San Francisco 49ers game in New Orleans, which had a 48.1 overnight.

Despite that, Sunday’s game was the fifth highest-rated Super Bowl ever.

The game rated highest in Kansas City with a 58.1 overnight. The 50.5 rating in New York was the highest there since the New York Giants-Denver Broncos matchup in 1987. That game had a 53.4 overnight.
