
Justin Verlander pitched four scoreless innings and closer Francisco Rodriguez worked one scoreless inning in the Detroit Tigers’ 10-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves 10-6 on Tuesday in Lakeland, Fla.
J.D. Martinez and James McCann homered and Ian Kinsler doubled to boost his spring average to .385 for the Tigers. Ender Inciarte drove in two runs and Bud Norris gave up six earned runs in three innings for the Braves.

Prince Fielder and Joey Gallo homered as Texas edged Cleveland in Surprise, Ariz. Fielder’s third-inning blast was his first of the spring and Gallo’s two-run, fifth-inning belt was his third. Giovanny Urshela hit his fourth homer of the spring and Michael Martinez also homered for the Indians.

A four-run eight inning pushed Philadelphia past Tampa Bay in Port Charlotte, Fla. Cedric Hunter homered for the Phillies and Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola gave up two runs in 4 2/3 innings, including a fifth-inning homer by Kevin Kiermaier.
Nationals 6, Astros 4
Daniel Murphy doubled in two runs and Michael Murphy knocked in Daniel Murphy with his second hit of the game during a three-run third inning against Collin McHugh as Washington beat Houston in Kissimmee, Fla. Marwin Gonzalez’s fourth home run of the spring in the eighth helped the Astros rally, but the Nationals answered in the ninth with three runs.

Alfredo Marte hit a two-run homer in four-run eighth inning to help Baltimore tie Toronto in Dunedin, Fla. Orioles starter Chris Tillman gave up four hits in the first inning and was lifted in the second after giving up back-to-back walks with two outs.
