Lester homered in the Cubs’ seven-run fourth, Kyle Schwarber followed with a home run and David Ross finished the day with three doubles and four RBIs..

In the final spring training game for Washington and New York, home runs by Ryan Zimmerman, Jayson Werth and Stephen powered the Nationals’ romp in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Zimmerman hit a three-run homer in the first inning off Mets starter Matt Harvey, who gave up three runs and two hits in two innings, and Werth and Drew delivered two-run blasts.

Brian Dozier had a hit and scored on a single by Joe Mauer in the first inning and Minnesota added two runs in the second on a two-run triple by Danny Santana against Toronto in Fort Myers, Fla. The Blue Jays scored their runs in the fifth, with Casey Kotchman contributing two RBIs.

Ivan Nova worked six innings in his bid to land the fifth spot in the rotation and New York scored its runs in the eighth inning on consecutive triples by Dustin Fowler and Billy Fleming and a single by Austin Romine against Atlanta in Kissimmee, Fla. Nova gave up two hits and had two strikeouts.

Drew Smyly was sharp in his final spring start for Tampa Bay, pitching four hitless innings and striking out seven batters from a Boston Red Sox split squad in Port Charlotte, Fla. Mike Mahtook homered and Brad Miller had a home run and an RBI double for the Rays.

After Dallas Keuchel pitched seven scoreless innings for Houston, Philadelphia rallied against relievers for eight runs in Clearwater, Fla. Keuchel gave up two hits and ended the spring without yielding an earned run in 17 innings, Jose Altuve hit a two-out, three-run homer in the fifth for the Astros and Andres Blanco’s grand slam punctuated the Phillies’ big inning.

Andrew McCutchen hit his sixth home run of the spring — a two-run shot — and Pittsburgh tied a Boston split squad in a nine-inning game in Bradenton, Fla. Red Sox starter David Price gave up one run and four hits in four innings, and Chris Young had an RBI triple in the fifth inning.

St. Louis and Miami closed out the spring with Michael Wacha pitching five shutout innings for the Cardinals and closer Trevor Rosenthal working a perfect ninth inning. Matt Holliday had a two-run double in the fifth for St. Louis.

Delino DeShields had two triples and scored twice and Cole Hamels pitched five innings in his final spring start for Texas in Surprise, Ariz. Hamels gave up one run, two hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

Phil Gosselin had three hits and five RBI, Wellington Castillo homered, Jean Segura singled for his 30th hit of the spring to raise his batting average to .517 and Arizona outslugged Oakland in Mesa, Ariz. The A’s got home runs from Matt Chapman and Chad Pinder and two RBIs from Chris Coghlan.

Scooter Gennett homered and singled to boost his spring average to .462 as Milwaukee beat a Colorado split squad in Scottsdale, Ariz. Jorge De La Rosa gave up four runs and four hits in three innings and Nolan Arenado hit his sixth homer of the spring — a two-run shot — to raise his average to .566.
Reds 6, White Sox 3
Joey Votto had four hits, two runs and two RBIs and Brandon Phillips homered, doubled and singled for Cincinnati in Goodyear, Ariz. Chicago’s Jose Quintana gave up four runs and nine hits in three-plus innings and Tyler Saladino hit his fifth home run of the spring for the White Sox.

Corey Kluber gave up one run and Clayton Kershaw pitched three scoreless innings in the final spring tuneup for the Opening Day starters as Cleveland edged Los Angeles in Glendale, Ariz. Juan Uribe and Roberto Perez had RBI doubles for the Indians in the fourth inning

San Diego scored four runs in the first inning on an error and doubles by Matt Kemp and Derek Norris against Seattle starter Felix Hernandez in Peoria, Ariz. Hernandez gave up four runs and four hits in three innings, Adam Rosales added a two-run homer in the seventh for the Padres, and Daniel Robertson drove in two runs in the bottom of the ninth with a double.
