The Philadelphia 76ers have removed all timetables regarding the possible return of center Andrew Bynum, the Delaware County Daily Times reported Saturday.
Bynum has yet to play a game for the Sixers because of bilateral bone bruises and weakened cartilage in both knees.
And now Sixers general manager Tony DiLeo is simply saying Bynum is out “indefinitely,” according to the Daily Times report.
The only date the team has confirmed is Dec. 10, which is when Bynum is scheduled to have another MRI on both knees to assess his progress.
No longer is there a specific plan to have Bynum begin the second phase of his rehab some time next month, and no longer is there any general projection that Bynum would require one to four weeks of basketball activity from that point before he returns to the court.
The Sixers are simply saying Bynum will return to action when Bynum determines that he’s ready to do so.
It leaves the responsibility for determining a return date to Bynum.
Bynum was acquired from the Lakers in an Aug. 10 trade.
