The New Orleans Saints re-signed offensive tackle Zach Strief to a five-year contract Monday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team.
Strief, 30, allowed just three sacks in 15 starts last year. Pro Football Focus ranked him the top right tackle in the NFL.
“We are excited to announce that Zach will stay with us into the future,” general manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement. “Not only has he done an excellent job at the right tackle position, but he has served us well as an offensive team captain for the past two seasons and has always been a great asset in the community since he first came here in 2006.”
Strief has started at right tackle since 2011. He was slowed by a groin injury in 2012 before having his best season in 2013. He has been a team captain the past two seasons. The Saints drafted him in the seventh round out of Northwestern in 2006.
