OAKLAND, Calif. — The Kansas City Royals lost two in a row for the first time this season and the bullpen gave up the lead in the late innings in the second game. There’s no sense of impending doom though, not when you know you have the best relievers in baseball.
Joakim Soria just lost for the first time since last July, so he’s going to do something special on Monday’s off-day. He’s joining a few of his teammates to participate in a charity golf event to benefit Special Olympics of Kansas City.
The Royals just move on, and returning to Kansas City to start a homestand against AL Central rivals Detroit Tigers is the best place to start.
Tuesday’s starter, Yordano Ventura, is 4-0 in six career starts against the Tigers. The Royals have won 11 of his last 13 starts. There’s no worry on their part.
The Royals finished 4-3 on their road trip and that’s always a good thing, even when you drop the last two.
Kansas City won last year’s series with the Tigers, 10-9, with six of those losses by one run. The Royals outscored Detroit, 107-66.
