
Jason Giambi could already be planning his transition managing.
Though Colorado bench player is scheduled to interview for the vacant Rockies managerial job, according to a Denver Post report, though no date has been scheduled.
Giambi, 41, finished his 18th year in the big leagues and fourth with Colorado. Injuries limited him to 60 games last season. He had hernia surgery last week and planned on returning.
Rockies bench coach Tom Runnells has already interviewed for the job.
Jim Tracy resigned after 2012’s 98-loss season.
Giambi has no coaching experience. He is a career .280 hitter with 429 home runs in an 18-year career that began with the Oakland Athletics.
