Rockies secure deals with three players

The Colorado Rockies avoided arbitration with outfielder Drew Stubbs and pitchers Jordan Lyles and Tyler Chatwood on Wednesday, according to reports.

Stubbs reached agreement with the Rockies on a one-year, $5.825 million contract for 2015. Lyles’ one-year agreement is worth $2.475 million, according to CBSSports.com. Chatwood is getting a two-year deal with $2 million guaranteed and $1 million each in 2015 and 2016, ESPN.com reported.

The 30-year-old Stubbs batted .289 with 15 home runs, 43 RBIs and 20 stolen bases for Colorado last season. He will be eligible for free agency after the 2015 season. Stubbs is a career .246 hitter with 84 homers and 266 RBIs in six seasons with the Rockies, Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds.

Lyles, 24, started 22 games for the Rockies last season and finished with a 7-4 record and a 4.33 ERA in 126 2/3 innings. In four seasons with the Rockies and Houston Astros, the right-hander owns a 21-33 record with one save and a 5.11 ERA.

Chatwood had Tommy John surgery in July. The 25-year-old right-hander was limited to four starts in 2014 and went 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 24 innings. He has a 20-22 career record with one save and a 4.35 ERA with the Rockies and Angels.
