A report that the New York Jets might be interested in trading heralded cornerback Darrelle Revis has suitors starting to line up for a chance to land one of the NFL’s best players.
One general manager called the prospect “one of the biggest potential trade markets for a player ever,” according to CBSSports.com.
Multiple reports indicate a growing desire on the Jets’ part to listen to offers for Revis, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2012 but is considered one of the best players in the NFL. The team is looking to free up salary-cap space.
“There’s a gold rush forming,” a general manager said.
The Jets’ demands in a trade would be significant. CBSSports.com reported that New York might seek first- and second-round draft choices for Revis or, more likely, a combination of draft picks and established players.
One team that might inquire about Revis is New England, according to the CBSSports.com report, but the Jets are unlikely to trade a player of his caliber to an AFC East rival.
Before the injury, Revis was one of the top cover corners in the game. He has 19 interceptions in six seasons with the Jets.
