The New Orleans Saints are shopping running backs Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles as they look for ways to make salary cap space, according to multiple reports.
The Saints are estimated to be close to even with the cap after designating tight end tight end Jimmy Graham as their franchise player and making a restricted free agent tender to safety Rafael Bush.
The team already released defensive linebackers Will Smith and Jonathan Vilma, and defensive backs Roman Harper and Jabari Greer. They are also expected to part with longtime wide receiver Lance Moore to cut more salary.
Thomas rushed for 549 yards with a pair of touchdowns in 2013. Sproles had just 220 rushing yards and two touchdowns but made 71 catches for 604 yards with two receiving TDs in 15 games last year.
