Report: Wallace to sign with Knicks

Power forward Rasheed Wallace reportedly has told the New York Knicks he will come out of retirement to play for them.

The 15-year veteran worked out with the Knicks on Saturday, but has not signed a contract with them, according to ESPNNewYork.com, citing a league source.

Wallace, who retired after the 2009-10 season, is expected to be with the Knicks when they open training camp Tuesday. He reportedly took a physical with them last week, though his agent, Bill Strickland, would not comment on the report.

Wallace is expected to be a backup to power forward Amare Stoudemire. He could make the veteran’s minimum of $1.7 million.
