Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has decided to have surgery to repair a groin injury, ESPN reported Wednesday.

The date of the surgery has not been determined, although the ESPN report stated it would be in the near future.

Peterson met with Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia, and it was determined at that time that surgery was required.

Peterson missed two games this season because of groin and foot injuries, but he still rushed for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013.
