The NFL is planning to move the Pro Bowl from Honolulu to Orlando, Fla., Bloomberg News reported Thursday.
Orlando, Honolulu, Houston and Sydney Australia, are bidding to host the all-star game. The report did not indicate when the Pro Bowl would move to Orlando.
“No deal done with any of the interested cities,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Reuters. “Multiple cities have expressed interest in hosting the Pro Bowl. … We do not have a comment on discussions with any of these cities.”
The Pro Bowl will be played at the Citrus Bowl, according to the report. A spokesman for Florida Citrus Sports, a local tourism promoter, declined comment to Bloomberg. The stadium underwent a $200 million renovation in 2014.
The NFL’s contract in Hawaii expires at the end of May. The game has only been played in a city other than Honolulu twice since 1979 — in Miami in 2010 and Glendale, Ariz., in 2015.
Television ratings have declined in recent years for the Pro Bowl, which is played the week before the Super Bowl.
