Report: Indians to sign Marmol

The Cleveland Indians are attempting to sign reliever Carlos Marmol to a minor league contract, according to a Fox Sports report.

The 32-year-old Marmol last pitched in the major leagues in 2014 with the Miami Marlins. He was released after posting an 0-3 record with an 8.10 ERA in 13 1/3 innings.

Marmol then signed with the Cincinnati Reds but made just three appearances in Triple-A and left the team.

Control issues have plagued Marmol throughout his career, but he reportedly has changed his arm slot in an attempt to address his wildness.

In nine major league seasons, Marmol has a 23-35 record with 117 saves in 519 appearances with the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Marlins.
