The Baltimore Orioles and first baseman Chris Davis reached an agreement Friday on a one-year, $10.35 million contract, CBSSports.com reported.
Davis’ salary was $3.3 million last year when he led the major leagues with 53 home runs and 138 RBIs while batting .286. He finished third in the American League Most Valuable Player voting.
The new deal would make the 27-year-old the Orioles’ third highest paid player behind right fielder Nick Markakis and center fielder Adam Jones.
The Orioles also have reached agreements and avoided arbitration with pitchers Tommy Hunter, Brian Matusz, Bud Norris and Troy Patton.
The team has yet to come to terms with catcher Matt Wieters, who wants $8.75 million and the team has offered $6.5 million.
Norris will receive $5.3 million in 2014. After coming to the Orioles in a July trade with the Houston Astros, the right-hander posted a 4-3 record in 11 games.
Hunter pitched in a career-high 68 games for the Orioles last season and posted a 6-5 record with a 2.81 ERA. His 2014 salary bumps to $3 million from $1.82 million a year ago.
Matusz, a left-handed reliever, will make $2.4 million this year after getting $1.6 million last season. Patton, also a left-handed reliever, will be paid $1,275,000 in 2014, which is a raise from $825,000 in 2013.
