Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo returned to action last week, but a number of the league’s general managers expect him to be traded, the New York Daily News reported.

According to the report, “more than a few GMs around the league expect Rondo to be on the move, if not at the trading deadline next month, then maybe in June at draft time.”

The reasoning is that Rondo may not want to be part of the Celtics’ rebuilding project with a rookie coach (Brad Stevens), while the Celtics are looking for a number of younger players or draft picks as they build for the future.
Also, Rondo’s current contract runs out after next season.

The Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks are among the teams that might be interested in Rondo.

Rondo made his season debut on Friday after sitting out the start of the season following ACL surgery.
