The Cleveland Cavaliers fired general manager Chris Grant on Thursday, multiple media outlets reported.

Yahoo Sports first reported the firing by owner Dan Gilbert following a 119-108 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.

A league source also confirmed the firing to ESPN.com.

The Cavaliers (16-33) are mired in a disappointing season and a six-game losing streak.

Gilbert had grown increasingly frustrated with the losing and the loss to the Lakers, who finished the game with four eligible players, was the breaking point, according to Yahoo Sports.

Grant, 38, failed to return the Cavaliers to the playoffs for the first time since LeBron James left for Miami as a free agent in 2010.

Grant, who was named GM in 2010, had one season left on his contract.
