The Chicago Bears traded offensive lineman Gabe Carimi to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday.
The report did not indicate what the Bears received in return for Carimi, who is scheduled to travel to Tampa Bay on Monday.
Carimi, a first-round draft pick in 2011 who started 14 games for the Bears last season, decided to train on his own in Arizona and not attend the Bears’ organized team activities.
He was planning to attend the Bears’ mandatory minicamp this week and had arrived in Chicago on Friday, according to the Sun-Times.
Carimi started games at both tackle and guard last season, but he was still slowed by a dislocated right knee cap he suffered in 2011 that required multiple surgeries.
