Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle William “The Refrigerator” Perry is rebounding from a recent hospitalization due to a leg infection.
Perry, 53, spent time in Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital after doctors discovered the infection. A published report said the diagnosis occurred after Perry attempted to get medication refills for diabetes and other ailments.
Perry, who weighed approximately 335 pounds during his playing career, uses a walker to get around.
Perry was a famed member of the 1985 Chicago Bears during his nine-year playing career. The defensive tackle was often used as a fullback in goal-line situations and he scored a touchdown during Chicago’s 46-10 rout of the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX.
