Akeem Jordan signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins, adding a potential starting inside linebacker to their depth chart.

Jordan started 10 games at inside linebacker in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 3-4 scheme in 2013. He spent the previous five seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jordan’s greatest value throughout his career has been on special teams and he was Kansas City’s coverage teams captain last season.

The Redskins are banking on volume to answer questions at the position next season.
London Fletcher, a mainstay and the Redskins’ most productive tackler the past four seasons, retired leaving the starting spot next to Perry Riley vacant. Riley re-signed last month as an unrestricted free agent.

In addition to Jordan, the Redskins added veterans Darryl Sharpton and Adam Hayward, who also have a special teams pedigree.
