Inside linebacker Perry Riley re-signed with the Washington Redskins.
Riley, who has started 40 consecutive games, was ticketed for unrestricted free agency Tuesday afternoon before the two sides officially hammered out a deal that will reportedly pay him $4 million per season. The Redskins would not confirm terms of the deal but acknowledged the deal was official.
Riley, 25, led the Redskins with 153 tackles last season and was a priority at the heart of the 3-4 defense with veteran London Fletcher retiring. In his first full season as a starter in 2012, Riley posted career highs in tackles (167) and sacks (3.5).
According to a Washington Post report on Tuesday, the Redskins and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Andre Roberts “have agreed to a deal.”
Per NFL rules, no formal offers can be made or signed before 4 p.m. ET Tuesday, but negotiations, including a discussion of potential contract perimeters, can occur.
The 26-year-old Roberts (5-foot-11, 195 pounds) has caught 182 passes for 2,123 yards and 11 touchdowns in four NFL seasons, all with Arizona. He recorded 43 receptions for 471 yards and two scores in 2013.
