The Washington Redskins on Monday named Ike Hilliard as wide receivers coach.

Hilliard, 37, returns to the Redskins after coaching their wide receivers in 2012. He spent 2013 as wide receivers coach for the Buffalo Bills.

Hilliard was a 12-year NFL veteran for the New York Giants (1997-2004) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005-08). He was the No. 7 overall pick of the Giants in the 1997 draft. In 161 career games (106 starts), he had 546 receptions for 6,397 yards with 35 touchdowns.

Prior to his first stint with the Redskins, he served as the assistant wide receivers coach for the Miami Dolphins. He also spent two seasons as an assistant under coach Jim Haslett for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. Haslett is the Redskins’ defensive coordinator.

Hilliard played collegiately at Florida from 1994-96. He helped the Gators win the 1996 national title in the Sugar Bowl.
