Reliever Koji Uehara signed a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox, according to a Dallas Morning News report.
Uehara, who will turn 38 in April, posted a 1.75 ERA in 36 innings with the Texas Rangers in 2012, though he missed time with a strained lat muscle. He’s expected to share end-of-the-game duties with Andrew Bailey and Junichi Tazawa in Boston’s bullpen.
Uehara is the sixth free agent to sign with the Red Sox, joining Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino, David Ortiz, Jonny Gomes and David Ross.
